A magnitude-6.1 earthquake of has struck under the sea 170km west of Neiafu in Tonga.
The US Geological Survey said the quake in the early hours of this morning was about 10km deep.
The survey revised down an initial reading of 6.4.
Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said there was no tsunami warning.
Luseane Luani, the news editor for the radio station Broadcom, based in Tonga's captial, Nuku'alofa, said she did not feel the quake and there have been no reports of damage.
