Samoa push to deport foreign convicts

3:16 pm on 27 September 2017

Samoa's Minister for Prisons and Correction Services Tialavea Tionisio Hunt wants the government to deport convicted foreigners.

He has the support of the CEO of the Ministry of Justice and Courts Administration.

Papali'i J. P. Taimalelagi told the Samoa Observer that this was a great idea and the law should be amended to allow for this.

He said these people come from various backgrounds and they don't eat the same food as Samoan prisoners.

He said they should be fined and sent back to their homeland.
