Nauru has restated that it may waive its $US6000 visa application fee for journalists when it hosts next year's Pacific Islands Forum summit.

Nauru introduced the world's highest fees in 2014 purportedly to raise revenue and to curb reporting it disliked after the island started accepting Australia's asylum seekers for processing.
It's not known how many applications Nauru has received since but it is believed that the island country waived the fee for some Australian media while refusing to engage in the application process with Al Jazeera.
Nauru's president Baron Waqa told reporters in Samoa that his country was happy to invite them.
"We are working with the Secretariat to work out a workable situation. We are happy to invite you all to come to Nauru," Baron Waqa said.
