The Vanuatu government will pay for tuition fees of more than 9,000 children in kindergarten and year 7 for the final term for the 2017.

The education minister Jean-Pierre Nirua announced that $US350,000 would be disbursed to minimise the financial burden on parents.

The grant was made possible through the government of Australia and New Zealand.

The money would only go to government and government-assisted schools in Vanuatu.
