American Samoan parents urged to monitor their chidren for dengue symptoms

Health officials in American Samoa are urging parents to pay particular attention to the children during the current dengue fever outbreak.

A lot of children are being seen at LBJ Hospital and the health centres with symptoms of dengue.

An epidemiologist at the Department of Health Aifili John Tufa said children need to be protected from mosquito bites and exposure to dengue fever.

"They are more likely to fall into the worst part of dengue which is hemorrhagic fever and some fo the symptoms we have to be mindful of is stomach aches."
