Tuvalu parliament postponed

12:07 pm on 17 August 2017

Tuvalu's parliament session, scheduled for this week, has been postponed.

The country's acting Governor General Reverend Tofiga Falani made a proclamation yesterday saying the session would be held at a later date.

The government was expected to explain the reasons for the postponement before the end of the week.

Reverend Falani of the Ekalesia Kelisiano, or Congregational Christian Church of Tuvalu, had been appointed Acting Governor General while Iakoba Taeia Italeli was away on medical leave.

Meanwhile, Isaia Vaipuna Taape was sworn in yesterday as a Member of Parliament for the Vaitupu Island constituency
