The chief executive of McDonald's Samoa, Tautolo Agaoleatu Charlie Tautolo, said his company planned to spend $US3.5 million on the expansion.

He said the restaurants would be built in Apia and at Faleolo Airport, and also on Savaii in the Salelologa township.

Tautolo said the existing restaurant in Apia would also be renovated.

"It is going to take seven months and we didn't want to close the restaurant and so we will pick up the renovation while we still open the restaurant so we can still provide the jobs for our staff," he said.

Tautolo revealed his plans while presenting $US50,000 to sponsor the upcoming Miss Samoa beauty pageant.
