An electoral petition has been lodged against the winner of Wallis and Futuna's only seat in the French National Assembly.

Napole Polutele retained the seat last month, being among the few candidates to secure more than 50 percent of the votes in the first round of voting.
The result was being challenged in the French constitutional court by Sylvain Brial who came second.
According to the public broadcaster, he found a number of irregularities in the electoral roll, mistakes in allotting proxy votes and also alleged treating.
The previous French National Assembly election in Wallis and Futuna in 2012 was annulled because the winner David Verge produced flawed campaign accounts, triggering a fresh election which was won by Mr Polutele.
Mr Verge was subsequently banned from holding public office for year but was this year elected as the new president of the territory's assembly.
In New Caledonia, the only candidate to win less than a half a percent of the vote Manuel Millar has lodged petitions against the two winners, Philippe Gomes and Philippe Dunoyer.
