Sport: PNG Hunters prop left out of squad after police matter

12:29 pm on 17 May 2017

Papua New Guinea Hunters rugby league prop Henry Wan Noki has been overlooked for selection because of a police matter being dealt with in Australia.

The 25 year old made his test debut for the PNG Kumuls earlier this month in the Pacific Test victory over the Cook Islands.

But he's been left out of this weekend's team to face the the Ipswich Jets in Brisbane after he did not return to camp in PNG and attend training.

PNG Rugby League CEO Reatau M Rau said there will be no further comment until the matter has been dealt with by police.

Wellington Albert starts at prop for the Hunters in place of Noki.

Meanwhile Adex Wera returns from suspension to start in the centres, replacing Willie Minoga, who is himself now suspended for a dangerous throw in their previous match against the Northern Pride.

The Hunters had a bye last weekend and are second in the Intrust Super Cup standings, trailing Redcliffe Dolphins on points difference, with a game in hand.
