American Samoa airline loses some federal authorisation

The US Department of Transportation has withdrawn authorisation for some services operated by American Samoa's Inter Island Airways.

The department's Todd Homan said Inter Island has not conducted scheduled passenger operations as a commuter air carrier for three years.

But the department had no comment on whether the revocation affected Inter Island's ability to continue to operate a charter service.

The Samoa government's Polynesian Airlines, operating under 30-day federal waivers, had been filling the gap left by Inter Island by providing a service between Manu'a and Tutuila.
