Flooding closes Tahiti airport

Flooding at French Polynesia's international airport has forced an Air France plane from Los Angeles to divert to the Cook Islands.

Heavy rain has flooded Tahiti airport, grounding all flights until further notice.

The rain has caused massive disruptions on Tahiti and Moorea, with floods closing many roads.

About 6,000 households have lost power.

People are advised to stay well clear of rivers.
