Health authorities in the Northern Marianas have issued an alert urging residents to be cautious of mosquito bites following an outbreak of dengue in Palau
The Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation has recommended people see a primary healthcare provider immediately if returning from Palau and feeling unwell.
No vaccine is available for dengue while no specific treatment has been discovered to combat the disease, making bite prevention the most important weapon against it.
If untreated, dengue can be fatal.
