The weather system is nearing the Yasawa Islands and could develop into a cyclone tomorrow.

Disaster Management officials have prepared more than 900 evacuation centres, should the rain force residents to move to higher ground.

People are advised to prepare for strong winds and continuous heavy rain into tomorrow and Saturday.

A heavy rain warning remains in force for the whole of Fiji.

A strong wind warning is in place for all land areas of Fiji and all waters in Fiji.

People are advised to limit travel and some domestic flights have been cancelled.

Fiji is yet to recover from Cyclone Winston last February, with some people still living in tents.
