An international investor group, led by the former chairman of the board of the Northern Marianas' Tinian Dynasty Hotel and Casino, plans to build a $US75 million hotel on Saipan.

The still unnamed resort will be a nine-story, 438-room hotel complete with pools, restaurants, shops, and staff housing.

Its property owner is Michael Kwan, who used to chair the mothballed Tinian Dynasty.

Globe International Group, which is based in Hong Kong, said they had been spurred to build the hotel after a surge in tourism arrivals in the CNMI.

Saipan has been experiencing a hotel bed shortage.
