Fiji passport fraud case further probed

Fiji authorities are continuing to investigate a complaint into an alleged attempt to defraud the immigration department.

FBC News reports that last week a senior immigration officer and a Chinese national were charged with conspiracy to influence public officials.

Kalisi Sakiusa and Ma Li are accsued of conspiring to procure the production and issuance of two passports for two individuals who were not residents of Fiji.

They are alleged to have forged a document which contained false statements that two individuals namely Lin Changlin and Zhang Yongqiang have become citizens of Fiji.

The suspects are free on bail and are banned from leaving Fiji.

The case will be called again at the end of next week.
