The teams running for governor and lieutenant governor have planned final WAVEs; this is where supporters line the road waving placards in a final gesture of solidarity.

A trough over Samoa has caused flooding on highways in American Samoa and also caused at least one mudslide in Utulei, behind a high school.

A flash flood warning has been issued and residents near streams and low lying areas have been told to take precautions.

The principal of Nuuuli Vocational Technical High School has sent students home because of the extent of the rain.

Meanwhile ballot boxes for Manu'a left early this morning on the Segaula vessel, along with election officials.

Police escorted the ballot boxes from the Election Office in Tafuna to the inter island dock.

Police will also be waiting at the docks on Manu'a when the boat arrives this evening.

Our correspondent reports that typically, voter turnout is down when it rains.
