Free animal clinics for American Samoa

2:48 pm on 6 October 2016

A team of 21 veterinary volunteers from the United States, including six veterinarians, is to hold free animal clinics in American Samoa from next week.

The team is from Animal Balance, and is partnering with local non-profit group Alofa Mo Meaola, or Love Animals, and the Department of Agriculture Veterinary Clinic to offer free spaying and neutering surgeries for dogs and cats.

Sterilisation surgeries will be offered free of charge and include deworming.

Other services such as vaccinations, flea/tick medication, and mange treatment will be available as well.

The Alofa mo Meaola leader Mona King is encouraging residents to licence their dogs which costs $5.

Licensed dogs will receive a free collar at the clinics.
