American Samoa deadline set for absentee voting

The election office in American Samoa is reminding voters that next Monday is the deadling to submit request for local absentee voting.

Absentee voting is for people who are not physically able to go to the voting booths on Election Day and includes those confined to hospital, public institution, or home because of illness or disability.

People prevented from voting because of religious reasons or those serving as election officials can use this method.

The election commissioner, Uiagelelei Dr Lealofi Uiagalelei said people should submit their requests to their local mayor.

The territory goes to the polls on the eighth of November.
