Vanuatu could close some diplomatic posts

Vanuatu may shut down some overseas missions to ensure there is sufficient funding for others.

Radio Vanuatu reports the Prime Minister Charlot Salwai as saying the government needs to develop policy on the financing of some missions.

It reports Mr Salwai saying that on recent trips overseas he has found Vanuatu's missions are poorly financed and not adequately set up to carry out their appointed tasks.

The prime minister said some overseas posts may have to be terminated so that more important ones are properly funded.
