Woes for New Caledonia carrier

10:56 am on 22 September 2016

New Caledonia's international carrier has been forced to cancel today's flight to Osaka because of a lack of aircraft.

Air Calin's two Airbus 330s have been in maintenance, with one of the plane's being held back in Taiwan for additional engine checks.

The airline has been leasing an Air Tahiti Nui Airbus but it cannot make up for the absence of the other aircraft.

Saturday's flight to Tokyo has been cancelled as a result.

One of its two Airbus 320s is being used for an additional flight to Australia today to help clear the back-log of passengers bound for Asia and Europe.
