Fiji trio charged with urging political violence

In Fiji, three people have appeared at the Suva Magistrates Court, charged with urging political violence.

Newswire reports that a businesswoman, Mere Samisoni, and two men, Semisi Lasike and Apete Vereti, were charged with one count each of urging political violence.

It is alleged the three urged another person to burn down the City of Suva in December 2011.

Furthermore, the trio are also accused of intentionally conspiring to overthrow the government by force of violence five years ago.
