Sport: Fiji Pearls might not play a test in 2016

Fiji netball coach Vicki Wilson is concerned the Pearls could go the whole year without playing a test match.

The former Australian Diamonds captain has been appointed until the 2019 World Cup in Liverpool and will also be in charge of Fiji's Under 21 programme.

The Pearls had a busy 2015 season: hosting New Zealand in January, winning gold at the Pacific Games in Port Moresby and finishing 11th at the World Cup in Sydney.

Fiji's last international was at that tournament 12 months ago and Vicki Wilson admitted the prospect of playing any matches in 2016 was somewhat up in the air.

"So this year that's what we're looking at. I'm a little bit concerned that other countries may have done all their planning so just trying to negotiate with other countries at the moment. Once we get all that planning done we'll be right."

Vicki Wilson said her main focus right now is the Oceania Under 21 qualifiers at the end of next month against Cook Islands, Samoa and Papua New Guinea, and the national schools championships next week.
