Vanuatu's Minister of Justice and Community Services Ronald Warsal has urged locals to think about their Kanak, Tahitian, South Moluccas and West Papuan brothers and sisters during Vanuatu's 36th Independence Anniversary celebrations.

The Minister made the statement on Wednesday during a victory parade through the capital Port Vila to open the activities to celebrate Independence day.

Mr Warsal reiterated the words of the country's founding Prime Minister, the late Father Walter Lini, who said Vanuatu is not really free until our brothers and sisters are free.

Vanuatu celebrates its 36th Independence anniversary today.
