Bougainville MPs have been summoned for a special meeting of parliament next week to discuss Rio Tinto's controversial decision affecting the key Panguna mine.
The mining giant divested its shares in the mine's owner Bougainville Copper.
The week-long meeting from next Tuesday is to deliberate on Rio Tinto decisions to give equal shareholdings to the governments of PNG and Bougainville.
Bougainville's President John Momis had expected his province to get the full amount and he has complained to Rio Tinto and the International Council of Mining and Minerals.
The destruction and division resulting from the mine was the catalyst for the ten year long civil war and Rio Tinto hass already declared it's no longer obliged to make good the environmental and social damage the Panguna mine caused.
The MPs are also expected to discuss the mining moratorium, the impasse over Bel Kol or reconciliation, and the Bougainville Mining Act.
