Moliga promises not to cut jobs in American Samoa

The American Samoa governor Lolo Matalasi Moliga has told his cabinet no jobs will be cut during the current budget year.

The local government spends more than 80% of its budget on personnel costs and under the Lolo, the workforce has nearly doubled .

As of March government employees numbered over 4,400.

The governor has credited the cabinet for weathering rough times and noted the months ahead will be difficult but with everyone working together they can get through to the end of the fiscal year intact.

Lolo said cutting jobs was out of the question.
