Three people have travelled from Papua New Guinea to the US to attend this week's 2016 Global Entrepreneurship Summit in Silicon Valley, California.

The summit brings together entrepreneurs and investors from around the world to "discuss and forge partnerships relating to creating new opportunities for investment, partnership, and collaboration".

The US President Barack Obama is expected to speak at the summit and has described it as a chance for building bridges to tackle global challenges.

One of those attending from PNG is Hubert Namani, a lawyer and entrepeneur whose company Trident represents international companies involved with steel bridge infrastructure as well as desalination technology.

Mr Namani has described Silicon Valley as an ideal venue for the summit, as its success as a hub for technology and business is based on ecosystems which support innovation.

As the summit got underway yesterday Mr Namani said he was looking forward to the exposure it would give him and others to technology and systems which allow the conditions for innovation.

The others from PNG are Haroun Rashid and Vavine Nadesalingam from Emstret Holdings Limited and Emstret Training & Consultancy respectively.

A US Peace Corps volunteer from Vanuatu, Dawna Horton, is also at the summit.
