Leaders attending next week's Port Moresby summit of the Africa Caribbean and Pacific group are to consider a review of the organisation's relevance.

Vanuatu's Ambassador to the European Union, Roy Mickey Joy, said the meeting would feature a briefing on a report by an Eminent Persons Group considering if there were relevant grounds to continue with the ACP as a group.

The review of the groups future is timely as the European Union Africa Caribbean Pacific Cotonou Agreement is to cease in 2020.

The ACP group includes 14 Pacific Island countries plus Timor-Leste.

Mr Joy confirmed that Vanuatu's Prime Minister Charlot Salwai and Foreign Minister Bruno Leingkone would attend the ACP meeting in the Papua New Guinea capital .
