Two deaths in American Samoa raise police concerns

American Samoan police are investigating two deaths that occurred last week.

In one case a woman fell from a moving vehicle and nearly a week later died in the Intensive Care Unit of LBJ hospital.

She had been admitted with serious head injuries.

The woman's husband, the only other person in the vehicle, was driving.

The commissioner of Public Safety, Save Liuato, says it appears from their preliminary investigation that the woman jumped from the vehicle.

The husband has since been released from custody.

In another incident, police say they are treating the death of a man found hanging in a tree as a homicide.

The man had recently been released from prison.
