Solomons infrastructure minister reinstated

The Solomon Islands minister of infrastructure development has been reinstated bringing an end to a brief period of political instability.

Jimmy Lusibaea resigned two weeks ago amid disagreements over long-running issues at the Solomon Islands Ports Authority, which led to the sacking of its chief executive Colin Yow.

Mr Lusibaea retook his oath of office on Friday after meetings with the prime minister and cabinet as well as members of his People's Alliance Party.

It is understood one of the conditions he has placed on reassuming his portfolio is for the entire Ports Authority board to be replaced next year.
