Fiji visitor numbers have risen in the first quarter of this year despite the disruptions caused by Cyclone Winston.

The prime minister, Frank Bainimarama, says compared to the first quarter of last year, arrivals have increased by just over ten percent to almost 160,000.

According to FBC News, the prime minister gave the figure at the opening of the Fiji Tourism Expo on Denarau in Nadi.

The three-day Expo is attended by more than 150 sellers and buyers from 19 countries.
