The Solomon Islands minister of Infrastructure Development, Jimmy Lusibaea, has reportedly resigned from the ruling Democratic Coalition for Change.

The Solomon Star reports that Mr Lusibaea tendered his resignation last Friday in a letter to the Governor General Sir Frank Kabui and Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare.

In the letter, Mr Lusibaea said he no longer trusted the leadership of the government.

The North Malaita MP joined the government last October when Mr Sogavare appointed him to his portfolio in a ministerial reshuffle.
