Vanuatu's prime minister, Charlot Salwai, has decided to replace the board of Air Vanuatu.

He wrote a letter to the airline's acting chief executive, Joseph Laloyer, to inform him of the removal of the directors and the appointment of the new members.

The shareholders removed Johnson Naviti Marakipule, Thierry Jean Yves Bourgois, Marokon Alilee, Jerry Ishmael and Lelet August.

They have been replaced by Joseph Tamata, Maki Simelum and John Lum.

PM Salwai also asked Mr Laloyer to call an urgent meeting of the new directors before the end of this week.
