The Tonga Football Association is focused on development and will wait and see if the newly elected FIFA President will deliver on his promise to return $US5 million dollars to all of its member nations, to expand the game in their countries.
Gianni Infantino was elected FIFA President at the weekend, replacing the suspended Sepp Blatter.
He has promised to distribute five million dollars every four years to each national federation for football development, plus $US40 million to each of the six continental confederations over the same period.
The President of the Tonga Football Association, Lord Ve'ehala, said the former UEFA General Secretary deserved his election and was the best candidate with the right experience.
Lord Ve'ehala said any added funding would help Tonga's plans to focus on developing youth teams and strengthening their clubs and community programs going forward.
"Well that's what he said in his plan and his strategy and so far that's what he said. We still have months to go this year and we will see when it's going to happen or if it's going to go through that but that is what he said."
