The Fijiana finished seventh in the opening round in Dubai in December and, after a short break, have spent the long wait in between working especially hard on strength and conditioning.

Fiji Rugby's Director of Women's Sevens, Chris Cracknell, said the squad had a full week in Brazil to acclimatise.

He said each tournament is an opportunity to see where they stand on the World stage and make sure they move forward from the last outing.

"Our focus for the weekend is to go better than we did in Dubai. I've brought in some new faces and they've added to the strength of our squad. The girls are a lot fitter now and they're also a lot stronger - in terms of being able to last 14 minutes in the game - so I think we've developed in terms of our strength and conditioning quite nicely and our understanding of how we want to play the game, we've definitely added some depth to that".

Fiji have again been drawn in the same pool as Canada and Ireland, who they beat in Dubai, alongside Australia and Chris Cracknell says they want to be hitting the Cup semi finals as a minimum.
