The Papua New Guinea 2017 elections have been officially announced for June.
Electoral Commissioner Patilias Gamato announced the tentative dates while awaiting government funding.
Mr Gamato said he needed nearly US$ 60 million to conduct the general election.
The newspaper, The National, said polling would start on 24 June and end 8 July.
Mr Gamato said the commission was ready for planning and the only hurdle to overcome was funding.
Mr Gamato has said the commission asked the government for nearly US$ 64 million in the 2016 budget, but was only allocated US$ 3.3 million.
