Fiji bill littered with errors - opposition

4:48 pm on 29 January 2016

A Fiji opposition MP says her party has found hundreds of errors in the company's law bill.

Tupou Draunidalo of the National Federation Party said this was due to the the way legislation was rushed by the government.

Parliament, which was re-opened in 2014, is now to sit for only 20 days a year.

Ms Draunidalo, who is a lawyer, said the coup culture led to institutions becoming meaningless.

"We've just discovered yesterday - because the government rushes through legislation at whim, we found 300 errors and counting in the Company's Law Bill."

Tupou Draunidalo said it would take a long time to restore institutions.
