The Pacific Games Council remains confident Vanuatu can still host the 2017 Mini Games but admits they will have to consider their options if there isn't significant progress in the new year.
Demolition work was due to begin in March on the main stadium in Port Vila, but was delayed following Cyclone Pam and is still yet to get underway.
The Executive Director of the Pacific Games Council, Andrew Minogue, says the political instability in the country hasn't helped the situation but after meeting with government and opposition MPs last week, they've been reassured Vanuatu is committed to hosting the Games.
"We're looking at all options. As I said, I think at this stage the confidence is there that Vanuatu can host these Games and they should host them. We have a General Assembly there next May in Port Vila, which is going to be a great opportunity for the full Games community to see where they are with things and if there's been no significant progress between now and May then that contingency planning will probably have to ramp up a bit".
Andrew Minogue says organisers are still planning to complete the construction process in June 2017, three-months before the Games are due to start, they just need to focus their minds and get on with the job.
