Solomons ports chief threatened over reforms

11:34 am on 19 November 2015

The Solomon Islands police chief Frank Prendergast says he is aware of threats against the Ports Authority CEO and his senior managers.

The Ports Authority chief Colin Yow says the threats and demand for compensation follow the recent sacking of four Ports Authority workers.

Mr Yow says workers detest a number of reforms he has introduced which could lead to job losses.

He says the reforms will weed out corrupt practices which have been going on for decades.
