Naivakarurubalavu Solo Mara has been appointed Fiji's next ambassador to the United States.
Mr Mara had been Fiji's High Commissioner to Britain and Ambassador to Germany, Denmark, Israel, Ireland and the Holy See since September 2011 .
He is also a former Permanent Secretary of Foreign Affairs.
Mr Mara holds a Masters Degree in International Relations from the International University of Japan and with more than 15 years' experience at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Mr Mara says he will continue to seek out opportunities and raising the economic and socio-political profile of Fiji in the US, Canada and Mexico.
