The Governor of the Northern Marianas has renewed a declaration of a major disaster and significant emergency in the wake of Typhoon Soudelor.

This is the second time Governor Eloy Inos has renewed the declaration for the emergency, which hit the island of Saipan in August.

Mr Inos says full access to power and water has still not been restored to Saipan, which risks public health, safety and peace.

The Commonwealth Utilities Corporation says it is currently producing 78 percent of its regular power generation.

The declaration also ensures the price freeze continues for essential commodities in the CNMI.
