A mystery creature has been found outside the Tongan parliament and police say they are concerned it may be a snake.
The thin animal, measuring around one metre long, was discovered and killed by a security guard early Wednesday morning.
Chief Superintendent Tevita Fifita from the central police station says it has now been handed to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food, Forests and Fisheries for identification.
"There's no snake in Tonga, that's why we are worried about that and that's why we need to confirm if it's a snake or not."
Mr Fifita says the ministry officials have said they have never seen anything like the discovery before.
