Speaking at the United Nations in New York, Papua New Guinea's deputy prime minister Leo Dion has emphasised the government's commitment to sustainable development.

Malum Nalu reports Mr Dion talking about government efforts on climate change, water, health and sanitation, and development plans.
The 70th UN General Assembly session comes after world leaders last week adopted the Sustainable Development Goals to succeed the UN's Millennium Development Goals.
Mr Dion said PNG's contribution as chair of the Pacific Islands Forum was in securing consensus among Forum countries in proposing SDG number 14, which is to conserve and use the oceans, seas and marine resources in a sustainable manner.
He also pointed out that calls by PNG prime minister Peter O'Neill for international action on climate change have been echoed by Pope Francis in his UN speech last week.
