Niue and Italy have established diplomatic links.
A formal declaration was signed by Niue's Premier, TokeTalagi, and Italy's Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Benedetto Della Vedova in Papua New Guinea during the Pacific Forum summit.
Italy is promising to back Niue's aspiration to protect, retain and develop its culture.
It will also help it participate in activities at the regional and international level.
