Fiji's Land Force Commander Colonel Sitiveni Qiliho says there are no plans to send more soldiers to join other peacekeepers on Egypt's Sinai Peninsula.

He says the Multinational Observer Force has not come up with any plans to increase numbers.

Concern about the volatility of the area has risen after attacks by militants which have wounded four American soldiers and a Fijian in separate attacks over the last week.

Colonel Qiliho says he is confident in the measures by the multinational force headquarters to mitigate the threats and the 338 troops are there to stay.

"We can't just go in in quiet times and leave when a mission gets hot. For world peace and ourselves as genuine peacekeepers, we need to be there too when the heat is on."

Colonel Qiliho says the injured Fijian soldier has been treated for a stomach wound in an Israeli hospital.
