American Samoa holds memorial for world's smallest man

A memorial service for the world's smallest man Chandra Bahadur Dangi has been scheduled for Monday afternoon in American Samoa.

The Nepalese national who was 75 and from Nepal was in American Samoa with the Magic Circus of Samoa when he was admitted to the LBJ Hospital with pneumonia more than a week ago.

Plans are being finalized to take his body to Samoa to be cremated and his ashes taken home to Nepal.

The circus ringmaster Tupa'i Bruno Loyale said the circus family is grief-stricken.

The Guinness Book of World Records says Chandra Bahadur Dangi was the shortest man on earth at 54.6 centimetres in height.

A High Chief, Pulu Ae Ae Junior, who sponsored Mr Dangi's visit, says he was admitted to hospital a week ago with pneumonia and never recovered.
