Sport: Paul Williams named in Baabaas team to face Manu Samoa

12:02 pm on 25 August 2015

Former Samoa fullback Paul Williams has been named in the Barbarians squad to take on the Manu this weekend in the first rugby match staged at London's Olympic Stadium.

The Baabaas team includes four World Cup winners - former All Blacks Ali Williams and Adam Thompson and South Africa's Bakkies Botha and Wynand Olivier, and a total of 545 international caps.

Paul Williams played 18 tests for Samoa between 2010 and 2013 and was a part of their 2011 Rugby World Cup squad.

The 32 year old has previous links to Barbarians rugby with his father Bryan having played in a losing All Blacks team against the Baabaas in 1974.

Fiji-born flyer Taqele Naiyaravoro is also included in the composite team after missing out on Australia's World Cup squad, along with Tonga-born hooker Tolu Latu.

The match acts as a hit-out for Samoa ahead of their Rugby World Cup campaign and allows officials a 'dry run' for when the Olympic Stadium stages five matches during the tournament - including the third place play-off.
