3:34 pm on 6 August 2015

The Fiji Parliament is set to elect a new President for the country in a special one-day sitting in October.

MPs will vote on nominations for the Presidency, with Ratu Epeli Nailatikau set to end his term in November.

He has been in the post since 2009.

The FBC reports that under the Constitution, the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition each submit a candidate to the Speaker who will announce the nominees to Parliament.
