11:47 am on 6 August 2015

The Tongan islands of Ha'apai have received a boost with the opening of newly reconstructed classrooms for Fakakakai School.

Fakakakai Primary School was demolished by Cyclone Ian in 2014 and as a result students had to use a local church for temporary classrooms.

The five classrooms, toilet facilities and two staff quarters cost around 410-thousand US dollars.

The reconstruction was jointly funded by New Zealand and the Asian Development Bank.
