Fiji's Prime Minister meets with China's President

Fiji's Prime Minister, Frank Bainimarama, has met with China's President, Xi Jinping, in Beijing today where they agreed to enhance communications between the two countries.

China's state-run CCTV quotes President Xi saying the bilateral relationship between the two countries has seen great advances since diplomatic ties were established 40 years ago.

He says China is ready to enhance communications between the two governments, legislatures and political parties.

President Xi also vowed to strengthen cooperation on UN security reform and climate change under the UN framework.

Mr Bainimarama says his country considers China an important partner in its national development strategy and is prepared to strengthen cooperation in various fields.
