Fiji's government has announced that fuel prices in the country will be increasing by as much as 30 cents, but consumers will pay less for LPG and Auto Gas.
The acting minister for industry, trade and tourism, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, says the price changes are due to international market forces beyond Fiji's control.
He says the cost of Liquefied Natural Gas has fallen, leading to a price decrease of between one and fourteen cents.
However, high demand and a stagnant supply, as well as higher rates for shipping means the global price of fuel has increased, which means consumers will pay more at the pump in the third quarter.
